At the moment M-ASS is currently negotiating with potential sponsors to secure you the best possible membership deals. At this stage these things are still to be finalised, but to give you an idea of what M-ASS achieved for it's members last year, here's what it got you for less than $10!

2006 - Joining M-ASS entitles you to become an "associate member" of the society. Membership is open to all students at the University of Melbourne - you don't have to be an Arts or combined Arts student to join!

Apart from the privilege of saying that you are an associate member of M-ASS, you also get:

an incredibly cool keyring:
free Snow Cones or Fairy Floss upon joining
priority, half-price entry into Billboard Nightclub (Thursday nights only)
priority, discount entry into Concrete Lounge (Thursday nights only)
10% off at Threshermans BakeHouse

discounts on future M-ASS events
a really cool showbag (courtesy of The Age) including: a Grill'd voucher, a cool Sour Gecko, a Nando's air freshener, cool posters from the Astor Theatre and the Ian Potter Museum, a free exercise book, and much, much more!

So your M-ASS membership has (even if you were to attend no further M-ASS events and didn't take advantage of any discount offers - we know nobody would be this weird, however) a value of at least $20. This is not to mention the convenience with which you can prove you are a member of M-ASS at our many events (via the keyring) in order to receive your discount or freebies.

Let's take the average Arts student - we'll call him John. In 2005, John joins M-ASS in O-Week. On the way home in O-Week, he uses his Grill'd voucher. Through the year, John buys lunch 10 times at Threshermans BakeHouse at a cost of around $10 each time. John enjoys hanging out and having a good time with other Arts students, so he comes to all M-ASS BBQs throughout the year, the Trivia Night in May, the Arts Ball in August, and the River Cruise in September. He also goes to Billboard 6 times through the semester. So John's investment has saved him a minimum of $82.50 through the year!
