M-ASS AimsM-ASS is the student body for Arts and combined Arts students. Our aims (according to our constitution) are:
Based on these aims, M-ASS runs various events for Arts and combined Arts students. We are a not-for-profit body - any money we make goes straight back into events for students. In terms of our first objective, we feel that first year students in particular are important, thus our O-Week activities and the annual O-Camp. We cater to later year students also with the rest of our activities during the year such as our free BBQ in Week 1, our Trivia night and the Arts Ball. This year, M-ASS has a new, bigger, better, invigorated program, so make sure you attend as many M-ASS events as possible for a great year! Current projects M-ASS is engaged in regarding our second objective are a "First Year Handbook", investigating the possibility of M-ASS run tutes, and organising a public speaking competition. If you have any suggestions, please email education@m-assonline.com or use our feedback form. M-ASS has recently been working particularly closely with the Faculty of Arts, however we are unable to represent the interests of students to them unless we know what students think. The Faculty is great to work with and the people who work there are all amazingly receptive to student ideas, so if you have suggestions of how Arts could work better for you, email education@m-assonline.com or use our feedback form to make suggestions. All and any suggestions would be very gratefully received. M-ASS LogoA word about our logo. For anyone unsure, the M-ASS logo is the "donkey" below:
But we like to think of it more as an "ass", which is why we go by the name m-ASS (or more commonly, M-ASS). You may have noticed that the website is, in fact, m-assonline.com - we thought it was a dead giveaway, but apparently not. Either way, for anyone who didn't get it, we hope you do now! M-ASS ConstitutionM-ASS again updated its Constitution to reflect the VSU changes and rename some positions on the Committee! It is now fully in force and can be downloaded from here (you need Acrobat Reader 5.0 or upwards to be able to read this document). The Constitution defines M-ASS, explains how M-ASS and the M-ASS Committee run, and embodies other rules for M-ASS's operation and activities. If you're thinking of running for the M-ASS Committee, be sure to take a look. M-ASS Office and Contacting UsFor anyone wondering where the M-ASS Office actually is, it is located in the Old Law Quad, in Room G12A. During O-Week and Week 1 there will always be someone from M-ASS there for all your membership or O-Camp ticket needs. Any written suggestions, feedback, or other correspondence can be slipped under the office door. You can also write to M-ASS at the following postal address: By far the easiest and quickest way to contact M-ASS, however, is via email - to contact a specific committee member , use the Committee page, or use our Feedback page (which can be used even if you don't have your own email address).
